It was homecoming this past weekend for the St. John’s men’s and women’s swim teams.
Massuchusetts was defeated by the Red Storm , men’s team (4-1), by a score of 149.5-111.5.
The men’s team won seven individual events. Senior Karol Ciechanowski (Gydnia, Poland) was a dual winner, taking first place in the 100 meter backstroke (53.29) and in the 200 meter individual medley (1:59.21).He also led off the winning 200 meter medley (1:34.79) along with Jaak Savvi (Tallinn, Estonia), Danilo Perunovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia), and Jerrod James (Carlsbad, N.M.).
The men also swept the top three spots in the 1000 meter freestyle, led by Daniel Wells (Holland Landing, Ontario), who was the winner (10:05.35).
The women’s team (1-6) fell to Massachusetts 107-144. Jen Alger (Eustis, Fla.) was a double winner in the 200 meter individual medley (2:12.52) and the 200 meter freestyle (1:57.93).
