The St. John’s women’s tennis team improved their record to 3-0on the season by easily defeating Georgetown, 6-1 on Feb. 14 inArlington, Va.
The match, which was held at Army-Navy Country Club IndoorTennis, featured some of the Red Storm’s brightest performances ofthe young season.
St. John’s won the first point of the match as they swept thethree doubles matches.
Things didn’t change in singles competition, as the Red Stormcontinued its strong play, taking the first five singles positionson its way to the 6-1 victory.
Leading the attack were juniors Kristina Bothova and HandeGorur, as well as sophomore Lauren Leo, who remained undefeated instraight sets at No. 2, 3 and 4 singles, respectively.
In No. 1 singles action, junior Allison Davidson outlastedGeorgetown’s Jordan Botjer, 7-5, 7-5.
In No. 5 singles action, sophomore Lauren Lorenzetti droppedGU’s Kristin Dew, 6-4, 6-1.
Going for a perfect 4-0 start, the Red Storm travel toPittsburgh, Pa., where they will meet Duquesne, which is scheduleto begin at noon.
