The St. John’s Red Storm beat both Dowling and Marist in a Saturday doubleheader to close out the fall season. They defeated Marist 8-1. Starting pitcher Lisa Geer went the distance. Geer struck out six and only gave up three hits, including a solo home run. The Red Storm were down 1-0 until the sixth inning when they scored five runs and notched six hits to drive Marist’s starting pitcher Megan Rigos out of the game. Tami Hill hit a two run single to start the rally and Loren Anguiano hit a two-run shot to center field, one of her two home runs of the day. Brandy Reyes capped the scoring onslaught with an RBI single. Every hitter in the lineup had at least a base hit or a run in the game. In the first game, the Red Storm edged Dowling 4-2. Kim Lerch retired 13 batters after a hit was given in the first inning. Anguiano hit a two run homer in the fourth inning. In the sixth inning, Anguiano and Hill scored on errors made by Dowling.
